Saturday BM! And Don’t Forget Our Special Fifth Saturday

Saturday is BM! day this week, and don’t forget in two weeks time we have an extra special fifth Saturday, when we’re playing again. On both dates it’s the usual 10am – 9pm at the Bar Convent, come and go as you like, your fist visit is free. We have our Ticket to Ride tournament coming up too – check a previous blog post for details (there have been plenty of them).

See you all soon!

All Aboard!

Time is running out to sign up for our Ticket To Ride: Europe tournament. Make sure your name is on the list before the 17th of August or risk missing out. We might be able to accommodate some walk-ins on the day, but the only way to guarantee your spot is to let us know now.

Also, if you’ve got a copy of TTR:E we can borrow for the day please let us know as it will help the day to run smoothly and even more people will be able to play. As a token of thanks you will receive Kirsty’s eternal gratefulness.

Finally, remember that we’re meeting on Friday this week from 5pm ’til late at the Bar Convent. See you there!

Saturday BMday

It’s almost the weekend which can mean only one thing: It’s time to play more games at Beyond Monopoly! It’s Saturday’s turn this time around, and we’ll be at the Bar Convent from 10am – 9pm as always, and you can come and go as you please if you don’t want to stay for the full day.

Also, as we’re moving into August, now is probably a good time to remind you about our Ticket to Ride tournament which is rapidly approaching like the 10.27 to London King’s Cross (although unlike the 10.27 to King’s Cross, our tournament will be running to schedule). You can check out the details on our website or if you don’t care about details, just send an email to Kirsty to join.

See you on Saturday!

More New Games – Let Us Know What You Want!

Hi everyone. The third Saturday of July is fast approaching and that means only one thing: All day gaming at the Bar Convent. Set an alarm and don’t miss out!

We’re also looking to buy some more games this year, but we need your input. Please head over to our Geeklist on Boardgamegeek and let us know what you think we should get. If it’s not nominated, we won’t be buying it, so act fast! If you don’t have a BGG account you can drop me an email to and I can add games to the list for you. Alternatively, you should think about creating an account – it’s free and BGG is the place to be if you’re into board games (and let’s face it, if you’re reading this, you are).

Finally, we have a Ticket To Ride Tournament Update!!! Yes, in case you haven’t heard, we’re having a tournament. This isn’t really an update, it’s just a reminder. Take a look at the tournament page for all of the juicy details, and get yourself signed up before it’s too late. The prizes are this week’s picture. Check them out!

See you all on Saturday!

Friday Venue Change

Hi everyone. Please be aware that the Bar Convent is not available to us this Friday, so we will be meeting at the Royal Oak on Goodramgate, just along from Travelling Man, instead. We’ve got the upstairs room booked from 5pm until closing time, and we won’t be charging you to attend (but please respect our hosts and buy a drink or two from the bar). As usual when away from the Bar Convent we won’t have our games library available, so please bring some of your favourites along from home to play.

Nominations are now also open for the next game(s) we should buy. Please head over to the Geeklist on Boardgamegeek to make your nominations, or drop me an email to and I can add games to the list for you.

See you at the Royal Oak on Friday!

We’re getting a New Game!

You already know that we’re meeting at the Bar Convent, this Saturday from 9am until 10pm, so I won’t go on about it, instead I’ll tell you about a couple of other things, starting with…

We’re having a Ticket to Ride tournament in August, and I’m not sure if we’ve mentioned it enough. We’ve now got a web page with details of the tournament too, and the web page will be kept updated with any important information in the lead up to the event. If I’m not too lazy the web page will also include the results afterwards. Hooray! Head over there and check it out now.

We’re also getting a new game. You’ve all been asked to vote on which game(s) we should buy from a shortlist during the last few club sessions, and the results are in. The hot new card-driven engine builder, Wingspan, has topped the list and will be swooping into the club’s collection just as soon as it comes back in stock at Travelling Man so we can pick it up. We hope you all flock to the club to give it a try!

And that’s all for now. See you on Saturday!
