Now, I want to stress a few things:

  • If you think there’s a game there we’re mad for selling please let me know. It’s probable there are some actually popular games we just didn’t know you played. It’s easy to take a game off the list (provided we haven’t sold it).
  • Just because a game is on the list, that doesn’t mean it’s a bad game. (although Wetland is). It’s because they are never played. This may be because nobody knows how, or they’ve been superseded by similar better games, or just nobody really likes them and wants to bat for them. Either way, if they don’t get played they’re just taking up space.
  • The prices up there are negotiable, although all money we take will be going to running the club and buying more games.
  • Ideally we would have a collection of pretty much every game, but as regular visitors to the cupboard know, that thing is getting full and games are getting buried. As a games club we need to be able to continually buy games which are popular with our members, and that means more space (and money). As well as that, it would be nice for those genuine classics, such as Tigris and Euphrates, to get prominent positioning now and again.

So that’s why we occasionally sell some of our games, and are selling some now. If you are interested in some of those games please speak to me on Saturday, or any other day. If I’m not there, please talk to another BM organiser. There will be a new list going up, which I will be crossing off as games get removed from it. Any questions, let me know.

“If those are the games you’re selling, you must have some amazing games you’re keeping!” I imagine you are all thinking right now, and you’d be correct to think that. The link is here, ranked according to BGG rating: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17SNbf5GtAOTQ-UJxziPiy2Er0ZKp8SYEcHBEOsZDtUE/edit?usp=sharing and that includes all the games in the list above as well. However, there are two new additions which will be added to that list. They will be my game recommendations in the next update sometime this week. Read about them then.

I’d suggest taking If Wishes Were Fishes off the list – despite the childish design there’s a really good game lurking underneath.

I second the comment about If Wishes Were Fishes – I’ve played it and seen it played at the club a number of times, though admittedly I’ve not been able to make it along for a good while (don’t live in York, work a lot of Saturdays) so if it’s no longer popular then fair enough.

I’ve spent many happy hours with Potion Making Practice when I borrowed it, though when I tried it at the club people were less than impressed – it’s a game where you have to know the cardscards and love the theme to get the best out of it, I feel. If you definitely want to evict it from the cupboard, I’d love to take it off your hands.

    Hi,

Can I please buy 2 of the games on the list? Unfortunately I can’t get down on Saturday because I’m getting married!

I’d like to buy Outpost and Evolution: The Origin of Species if possible.

    Thanks

    Damian
