we are moving locations within the RI

From January 2013, we will be operating out of a room in the Gymnasium in the Railway Institute. We and our cabinets will not be in Room 1 for the next year or more. We’ve enjoyed a very secure position in the RI’s main building for several years. Long term members will recall when we used to get bumped around, but we’ve had it good for some time.

Now, to help the RI secure a valuable booking, we’ve been asked to move and we’ve accepted a new spot in a room above the Gym. It’s important for BM! that the RI prospers, and we’re happy to help where we can. What’s good for the RI is good for us.

There will be downsides of course. It’s a longer walk to the bar for one. And we can only get Friday evenings, not Monday-Thursdays. This means that 1st Wednesday will stop. But we’re taking the opportunity to switch our evening meets to 2nd and 4th Fridays. That will give us a better spread across the month, and we have potential to run more Fridays if there’s demand. The room is only one short flight up too, easier for the less agile.

So this coming Saturday 15th will be our last day in Room 1 for now, and Final Friday will be our last Final Friday and our first in the new room.

We are planning to move our stuff the week after Saturday, so if you have free time on Monday 17th, Wednesday 19th or Friday 21st December, please get in touch.

This is a big change for the club and we hope you’ll continue to support us. Obviously, losing Wednesdays will be a problem for some, but we have to make the best of our situation.

Andrew has suggested I ask you to circulate a message for us.

We are looking for two more players to play a game of Friedrich with us, starting between 1100 & 1200 at BM on 19 January.  Strategic wargame, may last about 5 hours.

    Thanking you in anticipation.

    Happy New Year.
