Yes, I know, it is hard to credit but there really are other public game groups in Yorkshire. Here are a few we know about (excluding wargame clubs, RPGers and CCG groups). Please tell us what we’ve missed. NOTE: most of these will charge you an entrance fee of some kind, usually a few quid.
In Leeds, there’s a games club called Headingley Games Club, which plays a mix of games, some euros, some tabletop, some card games. They meet on Thursday evenings from 7pm at the Headingley Enterprise and Arts Centre (HEART), Bennett Road, Leeds LS6 3HN. It looks from their site that they meet every Thursday, but this is not clear, so you should check with them first.
Also in Leeds is a newer group, Leeds Meeples, currently irregular but often meet on Sundays or Tuesday evenings at Dock St Market, in the centre of Leeds. Follow @LeedsMeeples on twitter for more details.
There’s a group that meets in Hull, no website for the Hull Gaming Day but you can contact them at email@example.com. They meet on some Saturdays in the hall behind the Cottingham Road Baptist Church (Chanterlands Avenue, Hull, HU5 4AY). They play all the good eurogames stuff, get onto them for more info.
EDIT: In Doncaster, the games shop Zone Out hosts a game day on Saturday from noon, and also 1st Wednesday evening.
Also in Yorkshire* is the mighty Newcastle Gamers, who meet on the 2nd Saturday and Last Saturday each month (no accident), and they sometimes have evening meets too. They’re in the Christ Church hall, Shieldfield NE2 1XB, (*technically it’s in Tyne & Wear but they want to be Yorkshire). Newcastle Gamers is a very friendly club like ours, and you can play a wide variety of games there. They welcome new people and you don’t need any experience to join in. Follow them on twitter @newcastlegamers.
There’s also a game evening at Travelling Man in Newcastle on Tuesdays from 6.30pm.
This short list needs more work. Tell us which obvious ones we’ve missed.
